How Are School Diaries Manufactured?

Updated: Jul 27, 2023

School diaries are an essential tool for students to organize their day-to-day activities and academic responsibilities. They are used to track assignments, deadlines, schedules, and other important information. The manufacturing process of school diaries involves several stages, from design to printing and binding. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at the manufacturing process of school diaries.

At K.R. Printers (Bookman), we have in-house school diary manufacturing facilities. To know more, contact us today!

Step 1: Designing the School Diary

The first step in school diaries manufacturing is designing the diary. The design of the diary includes the cover, layout, and inner pages. It is a common practice to add the School's name, logo and a picture of the School building on cover. The inner pages include the personal information, code of conduct, academic planners, datesheets, assembly prayers and homework pages. At K.R. Printers, we provide in-house school diary designing facilities to our clients.

Step 2: Printing the School Diary

The printing process involves transferring the design onto the paper. Printing for school diaries is usually done via offset, and in some cases, digital printing. The cover may be laminated after printing (if required).

Step 3: Binding the School Diary

The binding process involves converting the printed paper into a proper diary. Binding the diary involves several steps:

  1. Folding: The printed sheet is usually of a size larger than the diary, and a single sheet may contain 8, 16 or 32 pages of the diary (depending on the size of diary and on the size of the printing machine). This sheet is folded to the size of the diary.

  2. Collating: The folded sheets are then collated in the correct order to make the complete book block.

  3. Section Sewing: In the process of section sewing, the collated sheets are sewed together via threads to give the book block extra strength.

  4. Perfect Binding: The spine of the book block is exposed to hotmelt glue which glues the book block in itself and also the book block to the cover.

  5. Trimming: The glued diary is now sent for trimming from the three sides, which concludes the manufacturing process.

  6. The final product is now packed and dispatched to the school.
